Bubble is run by volunteers and provides quality hosting to members for free.

Bubble Hosting Rules

The following rules are terms that must be read and agreed upon when applying for hosting or as a current member. It is very important if you have any questions about these rules/terms that you contact us and we can answer any questions you may have.

Application Rules

- When sending an application for free hosting at Bubble.

Provide a first name, working email and a current website
- If you do not have a currently active website you should provide us with examples of your work. The best option would be to upload an example to another free host like webs.com or similar which can be active within minutes.

You must be over 13 years of age
- To apply for hosting with us you must be over 13 years of age, this is a requirement of the server we are hosted on and also follows the law of the country that the server is hosted in (USA).

Single applications only
- Only one hosting application per person is allowed. If you are currently hosted with us, do not apply again. If you would like your account to be changed from a subdomain to a domain, or from one domain to another, please contact us instead. Also, if you previously sent in an application and have been waiting for some time, don’t send in another. Again, contact us.

Provide details on why you want to be hosted
- It is very important that you provide details on why you want to be hosted here as well as your online web creation history because it gives us a good idea of how serious you are about wanting to be hosted with us.

Provide the subdomain name or domain you want
- If applying for a subdomain please include the name of the subdomain you want, otherwise if you are approved you may be given a name you did not want which can not be changed unless given special permission. If you own a domain you must have it registered and under your ownership before you apply. You will also need to be able to update the name servers which will be provided if you are approved.

No free domains (outside of competitions)
- We do not register domains for members or give them away unless they have been won in a competition. Please do not apply for hosting for a domain you do not own.

If rejected reapply again in one month
- If you applied for hosting and received a rejection you may only apply again in one month’s time. Make sure to read the rules again and also the tips included on our “How To Get Hosted” guide which might be of a lot of use to you.

Moving from a previous host
- If you are moving your website from a previous host that uses cPanel for your account we can transfer your account for you. You will have to provide your username and password for the account. This information is not shared with anyone outside of Bubble Staff and will only be used to transfer your account. Contact us if you have any questions or concerns about this process. If your previous host does not have cPanel access available for you, then we will be unable to move the files for you and you will have to do it yourself.

Do not apply with free .co.cc, .tk or other free domains
- You may not apply to be hosted with free domains such as co.cc, uni.cc, co.nr, .co.cr, .tk or others unless you have been given special permission. The reason for this is to provide accounts becoming inactive or sites being swapped and shared with other users. Previously approved free domain hostees will remain hosted, but no new applications for these are accepted.

Applications may take up to 12 days to be processed. This depends on the demands of the applications staffer. If you have concerns about your application you may contact us.

Hosted Rules:

- These are the rules that all currently hosted sites must follow. These are important so be sure to follow them!

  • Do not allow other people into your cPanel account.
  • Do not share your password with anyone else.
  • Update your site at least once every two months.
  • Your website must be in English or have an English version of text avaliable.
  • If you decide to go on hiatus or close your website you must notify us.
  • Link back to Bubble.nu at all times in an obvious place (such as sidebar, footer or front page).
  • You may not host other people on your Bubble account, unless you have donated to Bubble or have been given permission from Bubble.
  • Make backups of your own site. Remember to make them regularly! You are responsible for the files on your website and that includes making sure databases, emails and anything connected with your website is not lost. (If there is a major server loss we will try our best to rectify this problem.)
  • If you need hosting for another website do not submit a new application form. If you need hosting for a domain we can modify your account for you, or if you already have a domain hosted with us and would like another domain hosted you can add this into your account as an addon domain.
  • Do not use scripts on your website that are known to be insecure (see banned scripts list below).
  • Hosted websites must be for personal use only; you can not use your website to sell goods or services such as handmade products, graphics, layouts or anything else. Your space is given to you for free, so there is no reason to provide a paid service for others. If you have donated to Bubble this rule does not apply and you may use your space to sell goods, advertise, etc.
  • Mature content featuring adult subjects or images are not allowed on the server. This includes: porn, erotica and other forms of similar writing, images, sound or video.
  • Do not use your website space as online storage.
  • If you are found to be stealing any material, or uploading illegal files to your website, using it as storage or attempting to hack the server. Your account will be terminated.
  • You are responsible for the content on your website. Think about what you are using and where it comes from. It might be easy to claim certain works as your own, but that doesn’t make it right!
  • If you need help, ask us!
Upgrades/Downgrades:

- If you need to upgrade or downgrade please read this section.

  • You may upgrade or downgrade your account to the free plans available at no cost.
  • If you need more space than is offered on our free plans you may consider making a donation (or supporting us).
  • If you made a donation to Bubble and decide to downgrade or cancel hosting with us we can not refund your donation. Make sure you think about your donation before you submit!
Community Rules

- As apart of the Bubble community it is important that you respect other members and treat them fairly.

  • Do not be rude/abusive to other members, if you have been treated this way contact us.
  • Discrimination if not tolerated in any form.
  • Not everyone is going to agree on the same thing, but please do not leave rude comments, rate other members posts down on the forum for no reason because you have a grudge against them.
  • Do not create an alias and pretend you are another identity.
  • When leaving comments or posts about other members designs or works, please be respectful of their feelings. If they are asking for an honest opinion give a constructive voice and how you believe it can be improved rather than ‘it sucks’ or ‘I don’t like it’. It is easy to be hurt by comments, so think before you speak/type.
Domain Giveaways & Competition Rules:

- These are general rules that apply during most competitions, unless otherwise stated on the competition itself.

  • Domains will be free for one year only, after that time you will have to renew the domain yourself or let it expire.
  • Domains are registered by Kya from domain register Namecheap.com and moved over to a members Namecheap account when username is provided.
  • Domains can not be swap/traded/sold to other people.
  • Domains have to be hosted on Bubble. If you are already hosted here they may be added into your current account.
Banned Scripts List:

- This is a list of scripts that are prohibited to be used on this server.

  • Cutenews
  • Greymatter
  • PHPFanbase
  • Waks Ask & Answer

If you are found to be using any of these scripts you will receive a warning and if you fail to remove them your account may be suspended and in turn removed. The security of the server is very important that is why you should not use any scripts that are known to have bugs that can allow hackers and malicious software in. Please also use common sense, if you know a script may not be safe don’t take the risk. Also,  if you believe we should add another script here please contact us and let us know.

Account Termination:

- Bubble reserves the right to terminate your account if:

  • Your account may be terminated if you have failed to comply with these rules or have been found to be using your website with malicious intent to hack the server or upload illegal files.
  • Your account will also be terminated if you have failed to reply to the troubles email (if breaking one or more rules on Bubble and you did not fix them previously).
  • If you would like to close your account you are very welcome too. Please use the correct form and inform us that you no longer need your hosting with us and we shall remove it without a worry.

- A reminder of what is required from you for the prosperity of your site.

Each individual hosted on Bubble.nu is responsible for the content featured on their websites and for making sure to back up their websites. If your site is hacked, or the server goes down it is up to you to make sure you have backups. So make them regularly and make them complete!
